Pentecost & Gospel Sunday

Pentecost falls this year on June 8, which happens to be the last Sunday of the standard church program year. As a way to celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit as it shapes the Church AND to remind everyone that, even when away from this community (for however long), God still is with us; that we can hold to God’s unchanging hand.

The Chancel Choir, accompanied by the instrumental combo that leads us annually on Jazz Sunday, will offer two roof-raisers to lift our hearts and minds heavenward and to put the finishing touches on their year. The first will be Bob Chilcott’s arrangement of “Ev’ry Time I Feel the Spirit,” the well-known African American Spiritual. The second will be Paul Halley’s arrangement of “Hold to God’s Unchanging Hand,” a Gospel standard. Instruments and organ will support our hymn singing that morning.
