The Pentecost Offering - 2024

    PENTECOST SPECIAL OFFERING

The four seasonal Special Offerings of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) offer the whole Church a way to embody Jesus’ words in Matthew 25 through the Spirit-inspired stories and gifts that place us in partnership with those who have the least.  For the church to be the Church, it must be actively engaged in relationship with those in need – an understanding that can readily be drawn from Matthew 25.  Through gifts to the Special Offerings, we support ministries of compassion, justice, alleviation of hunger, Christian formation, education, peace-making, and global witness.

The period from April 1–May 19 is the Pentecost Special Offering. The Pentecost Special Offering unites us in a church-wide effort to support young people in Christ and inspire them to share their faith, ideas, and unique gifts with the church and the world.  Investing in our greatest resource, we help youth begin life with a solid foundation of faith.

Psalm 71 testifies that a foundation of faith established during childhood helps ensure lifelong faith and service. The patterns and lessons established during these formative years continue to bear fruit throughout a person's life.  By receiving the Pentecost Special Offering, you are nurturing the faith of those who are the church to come - children, youth, and young adults.

Your gifts to the Pentecost Special Offering support ministries with children, youth, and young adults in our community, across the nation and around the world.  As we continue to receive the Pentecost Special Offering, please remember that 40% of the offering remains with the RPC community.  The Mission & Outreach Committee will use the 40% to support the Open-Door Medical Clinic’s Baby Bundle program and the NAACP’s ACT-SO (naacpconnect.org) achievement program.  The NAACP’s Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological, and Scientific Olympics is a year-long achievement program designed to recruit, stimulate, and encourage high academic and cultural achievement among African American high school students.  The remaining 60% is used to support children-at-risk, youth, and young adults through the Presbyterian Mission Agency ministries.
